This was part of my ‘trip around the world without leaving the Chicago area’ experience a few years ago.  I hired a guide, or more accurately bribed my daughter with a promise of lunch, to take me to Chinatown in Chicago.  We visited all the nicknack shops where colorful lanterns hung above festoons of cheap beaded necklaces and shelves loaded with tiny, intricately carved figurines.  The food at Won Kow restaurant was excellent and the message inside my fortune cookie told me all my hard work was about to pay off which was good news.
