This 4th of July weekend wouldn’t have been complete without some lip-smacking barbequed ribs and where better to sample some of the best than at The Windy City Ribfest in Uptown, Chicago.
Despite overcast skies everyone was in a happy holiday mood and the mouth-watering smells emanating from the various rib stands on Lawrence & Broadway kept vendors busy from mid-day well into the evening hours.
It was a rough decision which of the award-winning recipes to try but we eventually opted for the low and slow-smoke style of the Chicago BBQ Company. Good choice, folks! They were excellent!
The ribs weren’t the only things that were hot! The music kept up a lively tempo and with bands playing on two stages there was plenty of dancing in the streets. These two ladies were enjoying the sounds of Suenalo, a reggae/rock band with a Caribbean, Afro, Cuban and Puerto Rican flavor.
With all the bad publicity that plagues Chicago, it’s nice to see that people can get together, in a neighborly way, to have a good time while enjoying great food and entertainment.
